Erich Heckel (1883 - 1970) was a German painter and printmaker. Erich Heckel was a German artist and founding member of the influential German Expressionist group Die Brücke. Erich Heckel's early style shows influences from Vincent van Gogh and French post-impressionism. Around 1910 a distinctive group style, characterized by rough, angular shapes and an intense coloring, was achieved, which Heckel gave up again after the Brücke was dissolved.
