Time is running out for more than 1,000 monkeys on a small island off the coast of Puerto Rico devastated by Hurricane Maria.
The monkeys are the offspring of an original group of 30 monkeys imported from India by Clarence R. Carpenter and the School of Tropical Medicine in San Juan that was operated by Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and the University of Puerto Rico. The island is easily visible from the shore, and looks nothing like a monkey, perhaps from overhead.
